You Can Thank Luigi Di raimondo.

Luigi Di raimondo has become a disease in this blog.  I don't know Luigi.  I remember his last name from when I was last campaigning, but I don't remember if I spoke to him, or to one of his relatives.

At any rate, Luigi has descended on this blog like a plague.  He is nasty, he is ugly, he is broadly accusatory, with no evidence, what he says doesn't make any sense, he is irrepressibly insulting, and he won't stop.  I've asked him several times to stop, and to go away.  Some other blog commenters have made the same request of Luigi.  But unloading his irrational and offensive nonsense is all Luigi wants to do.

So I have changed one procedure about this blog.  I cannot block a particular individual -- the blog, and blogspot, don't have a mechanism for that -- but I can "moderate" comments.  That is, I can decide which comments can be published.  I have taken that authority.

From now on, I will automatically, without bothering to read the whole comment, permit publication of any and every comment, except those from Luigi.  All of those will be denied.

It's extra work for me, and it creates a delay between when the comment is written and when I approve it -- if I'm in the middle of something, it can take several or many minutes, or even hours, until I have the time to scan the comments (for the name of the author), but it saves everyone from having to hear from Luigi, and it preserves the always valuable contributions from authors and commenters who have developed a need to avoid Luigi.

I'm sorry for this.  If it's a problem to you, and you know Luigi, you can complain to him.

  1. I apologize. I missed something. I have never before moderated anyone's comments, or wanted to, but because of Luigi, I decided I should moderate all comments, so I could filter out Luigi's. I assumed that if anyone commented, the comment would automatically be sent to me for my approval. And I was slightly surprised that after about a day, I didn't receive any comments to approve. So I went back to the blog settings, to see if I didn't do what I thought I did. I did, and I didn't. What I missed was that I have to fill out a separate field telling blogspot where to send the comments I now have to moderate. Blogspot has my e-mail address, and I don't know why I had to give it to them again, but I did. Just now. So maybe some real person will make a real comment, and I'll approve it, and we'll all be back in business. Except for the extra work for me.

But I'm not the only person who is having to deal with the Luigi problem. I have been told that Luigi was also thrown off of Nextdoor, and he reportedly threatened some Village residents, perhaps those who are on P&Z, to the extent that some P&Z meetings were attended by BP police, to protect P&Z, and who knows who else, from Luigi. That's what someone told me.

    2. Fred,

You had no choice, he made several comments about a number of us including You, Mac, Rox & Me, to name a few that were blatantly false. We tried to be reasonable with him, but no dice.
You gave him several opportunities to cut it out and not only did he persist, actually he stepped it up a notch.

    3. Chuck,

I have negotiated a deal. There will be no more mention of that person, and he will not be named, and in exchange, he will leave this blog alone to be enjoyed by the rest of us. We have lots of other things to discuss. So I have removed myself from moderating anyone's comments, which is why yours published without my having to approve it.

  2. Fred earlier today I posted a comment on this post as well as the one about why do we need an odd number of commissioners. Neither are showing.

    1. So, here's what happened (which I already explained). I changed the filter so that I would "moderate" every comment. But I didn't notice that I had to give the blog my e-mail address, which they already have, so they could send me the comments, so I could approve or disapprove them. It took me almost a day of no comments to decide I should look again, to see if I missed anything. That's when I found the place where I had to enter my e-address, which I then did. So you must have made your comments at a time that they would not be published without my approval, but I didn't provide the blog with me address, so they could send me the comments for approval. Not too long after I found and corrected my mistake, the unmentionable person in question wrote to me privately, we entered into a negotiation that he wouldn't be named or mentioned, and in exchange, he would leave the blog alone. At that point, I said I no longer wanted to moderate comments, and it was some time after that that Chuck published his comment.

So I'm sorry I screwed this up. Could you reconstruct your comments? Nothing is in your way any more.

  3. Fred, As someone highly qualified and a student of history, every homeowner and voter in Biscayne Park and the world should know in my qualified opinion you and your buddies are extremely dangerous wannabe despots. Luigi was a valuable informative resource for many in BP who agree there is a very long history of corrupt abusers gaining control here and violating the rights of others, like censoring Mr. Luigi. This Berg really should be unincorporated to remove the power that attracts mini tyrants to seek control here. All of you are dangerous to society and any responsible homeowner should reject your socialist control apparatus.

  5. Hey Fred: Strange that you have not acknowledged this Mac K. is exhibiting the profile of a dangerous aggressive psychopath and you have not prohibited him from disparaging other commenters and trying to intimidate voices of reason. Is he your (bull) dog? The Village has and has had very serious issues of corruption by those who attain control of government precisely as Mr. Luigi has alluded and the form of government here desperately needs to be reformed, either by unincorporation or some internal balance of power arrangement whereby a coalition of the top three losing candidates having authority to appoint an Village Inspector General type of position to keep the others in line.
